Microsoft is partnering with Meta to bring Office 365 apps to the Meta Quest virtual reality system, starting with Microsoft Teams. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said that other productivity apps like PowerPoint, Word, and Excel would also come to the Quest system. Ever since the rise in popularity of remote work in 2020, people are looking to feel more present in virtual workspaces. Meta is also improving the technology in their headsets, with “more intuitive” feedback on its controllers and facial expression tracking so that emotions are more easily understood in virtual spaces.

Samsung Announces New Blockchain-based Security System
Samsung announced a new security feature last week called Knox Matrix, a blockchain-based security system that will be rolling out to all Samsung smart devices. A user’s device network will be protected by their own personal blockchain system, which “enhance security through multi-layered mutual monitoring” according to Samsung. Sensitive information like device credentials can be shared between devices without worrying about a possible compromise. This is a great example of blockchain technology being used in daily life, since smart devices are becoming increasingly popular in people’s homes and present possible vulnerabilities in their personal networks.

Google Adding Ethereum Block Explorer Ability to Search
Google is adding a new feature to search, in which users can search Ethereum addresses to find balances, similar to a block explorer. Google’s new feature uses popular Ethereum block explorer etherscan.io to display data. Some users online wonder why Google wouldn’t do this with Bitcoin addresses first, but with Ethereum being the choice crypto for many Web 3.0 applications, it makes sense. The added function is just part of Google’s crypto-focused movement, as they just partnered with Coinbase to accept crypto payments for cloud services.
